Some morning in the 1830s,
a bush warbler — uguisu —
landed on a stone in the brewery garden
and sang.

The owner named the new bottle after that bird.
The label still bears him.

For 190 years, the brewery has stayed close to that gentleness:
soft, fragrant, generous sake.
The favourite of Tokyo izakaya owners who hate to compete with their food.
Characteristics
Founded 1832 by the Yamaguchi family in Kurume, southern Fukuoka.
Brewed with underground water from the Chikugo River basin.
Soft, faintly floral, modern in style —
a brewery beloved by Tokyo izakaya for not competing with the food.
The "Special Edition" line has won repeated IWC silver and gold years.
One of Kyushu's most fashionable younger brand names.
